About Us

The Bensalem Education Foundation, Inc. was established as a broad-based, non-profit community organization for the purpose of securing resources from individuals, corporations, community organizations and foundations for distribution in support of programs that benefit and improve the educational opportunities of students in the Bensalem Township School District.

The Bensalem Education Foundation was formed when a group of concerned citizens and administrators realized that the district was going to have multiple lean financial years. Proud of the quality of programs and opportunities the district has historically offered its students, this team formed a 501c3 organization to support extending the educational mission of the district.

Spring 2012 - Group begins meeting monthly 

June 2013 - Election of officers 

September 2013 - PA-nonprofit status granted 

October 2013 - Bensalem Education Foundation (BEF) introduced to the community at Bensalem Fall Festival 

December 2013 - BEF announces logo contest winner and unveils logo

December 2013 - BEF receives first donation as recipient of proceeds from the American Celtic Christmas Concert 

June 2014 - Election of officers and addition of three new board members 

July 2014 - 501c3 public charity status granted by Federal government

April 2015 - Inaugural BEF gala
June 2015 - Election of officers and addition of three new board members

September 2015 - BEF starts "spirit accounts" for all 9 school buildings in the district

November 2015- BEF and BTSD co-sponsor grand opening reception at BHS performing arts center; two additional board members added

January 2016- Joined the National School Foundation Association (NSFA) and Association of PA Education Foundations (APEF)

February 2016- Distinguished Alumni Award committee started

May 2016- Robotics team qualifies for World Championships in St. Louis

June 2016- Family Fun Day co-hosted with Cherokee Day Camp

June 2017 - Applied for EITC funding 

2018 - Approved for EITC funding
